Matched Ally Condie

My Opinion:

Cassia, Xander and Ky are the main characters of the story they live in a Society where EVERYTHING is chosen for them. They are only allowed to eat, drink a certain amount. Work set hours have set amount of free time.. wear standard issue clothes..There is actually so many rules to the world they live in it really makes your head spin. I found it very scary!
After the first 100 pages or so I felt like OK something has got to happen!! this book is slow going it reminds me of Shiver or Linger pace wise. I do find a few of the characters rather forgettable.

There world makes me sad I even cried a little for Ky! Who was my favorite.
A lot of the rules are meant to be set for "there own good" when really its an abuse of power totally unfair and frustrating.
I read the book in 2days and will read the next book... I rate it 4 out of 5.

City of Fallen Angels

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.
Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one.
When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.
Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

My spoiler free opinion:

Here's the thing I think I waited so long for this that I wanted it to be the most perfect book ever my estimations where extremely high indeed, so I think whatever I say may be a little unfair because of course it wasn't going to be able to live up to the idea I had in my head.
I love Cassie Clare her writing style, her way of setting a scene and her characters... her writing didnt faulter amazing as always. In this story we learn a lot more about Simon other then being Clary's friend and I liked getting to know him.
There are new characters Jordan who is maia's ex he was a good edition to mix it up a little.
There are also characters from Clockwork...YAY I like cross overs in books :)
I love magnes and Alec there wasnt nearly enough of them!!!!!!! Awesome couple, I think my favorite in a while..
Although Clary has grown as a person & Jace is still HOT I cant help but feel its kind of the same ole with them and the ending.... am I the only one who questioned that?
I did like the story alot but like I said it was hard to live up to what I had in my head...I hear TMI but REALLY WITH THE ENDING!!!!
4 out of 5 stars

House of Night

So I think I was the only person not to read P.C Cast's house of night, these past few weeks I got all the books that are out so far and read them one after another.

About: 16-year old Zoey Redbird is marked by a Tracker Vampyre, transforming her into a fledgling, or vampyre-to-be. Due to this, Zoey is forced to give up her human life and move away from her family into the House of Night boarding school, where she is to be educated in becoming a vampyre, while her body is to make the vigorous four-year change into vampyre that some do not survive. However, Zoey initially finds herself distinctively different from her fledgling peers: she encounters vampyre goddess Nyx in a vision, and after this, gains a completely filled-in mark, which is regular only for adult vampyres. At the House of Night, she is introduced to roommate Stevie Rae and accepted into Stevie Rae's close group of friends. Through out the books we see Zoey and her friends battle Darkness in order to save the world & basically stop war between Vampyres and the human race.

My opinion:

Ok so there are some things I love about the books and some things I didn't like so much.

I loved the idea of females being the powerful sex in this world, goddesses and such it was fun to see.  Zoey and Stevie Rae really grow and change embracing there gifts given to them (lots of girl power).
Aphrodite I have to say was one of my favorite characters in the first book she definitely is a hag from hell (trust fund baby) but she has a total transformation with out loosing her personality.
I was impressed with the Damien - Jack relationship I feel many authors shy away from writing about a gay relationship and I thought it was done well.
I didn't feel like any character was forced or not needed I liked all of them and although I wasn't completely sold on the books right off the story does improve as it goes along. The Stevie -Rae - Rephaim relationship has me intrigued. The plot itself is interesting and the use of religious and Cherokee legends only added to that.

What had me a little confused was I thought these Vampyres acted more like witches with the elements, rituals, circles etc not necessarily a bad thing just totally different from what I expected. Also kids who are marked its down to DNA, that took a while to get used to...

The whole Zoey can't make her mind up between numerous guys kind of got tiresome...don't get me wrong I liked all the guys! lol. But blah I mean the girl can fight darkness but cant pick a man after 5 or 6 books it feels like REALLY?

Who ever proof reads these books well Ms Cast needs to fire them I found so many mistakes!

The use of language and sexual content also had me questioning who these books were aimed at... not a 13yr old that's for sure.

I did like the use of pop culture although at times it was a little like over kill...

If you see these books give them a go I liked them, just don't expect Cassandra Clare standard of writing because its not but in my opinion still worth the read.

B&N suck

Has anybody else noticed that the service at Barnes and Noble all of a sudden really sucks! I have to admit normally I shop at Borders..but through lack of judgement I placed two orders with B&N.com. The 1st book came with out a dust jacket which got me mad because all I have now is a plain looking book (Matched) and it took long enough to receive it that I didn't want to do the whole switch thing so after writing to customer Service they decided to give me $1 back (how they come up with that I have no idea)

So I also Pre-ordered City of Fallen Angels (signed) over a month ago. The idea was they would take the money when the order was shipped but for some stupid reason they kept taking the $17 out of my account which would then go into pending transactions just to be put back into my account (really annoying since it sent me into the overdraft) so I go again to customer service and basically get no answers or the classic (blame the bank)

Ok whatever I still really really really want this book I've been waiting forever for it, its my favorite book series so today the book was released and guess what? Well Melissa is sitting here with out my copy of the COFA :( with no idea of when this book will be shipped (if it ever will) so its been a truly expensive book (with the bank charges $30) and I haven't even read it yet!

I am so jealous of all those reading the book right now and I am totally boycotting B&N!!!!

Its written in the stars

I was so inlove with my Horoscope today I just had to share!!

You are capable and intelligent, and you know it -- so why do you feel the need to prove it to anyone else? Do not worry about what other people think of you right now, because their opinions have no influence over you (or at least they shouldn't). These people do not know the real you, so let go of your concerns about how you fit in. Your anxiety is causing you to take on a more self-conscious energy, and that could snowball into a streak of negative self-esteem.
